The role of technology in the pandemic

In our lives currently, technology has a very important role, we need it for many purposes for example: attending school, etc.. This pandemic has made it such that it’s impossible to cope up with the rest of the world without technology.

We should be grateful that we have technology because children whose parents can’t afford the latest devices are not being able to gain the fruit of education this year. They are suffering even more than those who have devices and access to technology. Some children have been forced to take up odd jobs, as their parents felt to keep their children occupied. Thanks to technology we are still being able to be to stay connected with our friends, our parents can still work online with it. My mother orders online groceries and my younger sister has to ask my mother to order toys for her online instead of going to a real toy shop and buying a toy.

I am being able to express my thoughts on a device using an online platform. In schools currently most of the assignments, quizzes, etc are being done online for not everyone can have a hard copy. All shops have made an online website to sell their products so we need technology to buy anything also if we don’t have a book to read we have to read it online as well. Various digital channels have brought visual entertainment at our doorstep and perhaps we are not missing movie halls and cinemas.

But there are some negatives to excessive use of technology, like as we can do everything on technology our physical exercise has decreased. There has also been a considerable increase in our screen time which is very harmful for our eyes. The lure of many great choices of digital programs has decreased the habit of book reading in many children.

I wonder if most of them children will revert to parks and playgrounds for physical exercise. Due to the availability of twenty four hour digital entertainment, people are getting used to fulfilling their individual preferences which has led to a decrease of family time. The trend to play board games together is past diminishing as the lure to watch programs is much more than these sort of things.

Due to a connect with everyone conveniently using digital platforms and applications the need to socialise in person is reducing, I fear such excessive use of technology might soon make us very robotic and mechanical. The feeling of love, care, empathy for each other will soon vanish from the human race. The easy round the clock access to the internet has made us dependent on search engines, consequently are creativity is reducing by the second and are recall and retention is getting impacted too. Technology is a boon to mankind but can be a bane if not used mindfully.
