On Saturday 15 June 2024, the CONNECT team, in collaboration with Yuvathi organized an event at CHILD Children’s home in Chennai, India. Many children living in CHILD come from troubled backgrounds. Despite this, most want to do better in life. On the day of the event all were eager to show off their talent and have fun.
Close to 30 children in the age group 5 to 18 participated in a Creativity Carnival where they made drawings, coloured, wrote stories and poems and showcased their talent. The story below received the second prize at the event. The theme for story- and poem writing was: ‘The Importance and value of Education’.
The Class Boys
In Class VIII there were two boys: one a first rank holder, another a last rank holder. The first rank holder’s name is Jack, the last rank holder’s name is John. Jack always gets good marks and good things, but John gets poor marks and has nothing in his bag. As time passed, Jack became a rich businessman and John became a thief.
One day, John planned to steal a big diamond from a businessman. John was successful in his theft but after two to three weeks he got caught by the police. For one week he was in jail and then John got bail from the businessman from whom John had stolen the big diamond. John asked the businessman why he bailed him. The businessman said his boss told him to get him out on bail. John wanted to see his boss. The boss was none other than Jack. John, after seeing Jack’s position, realized that he too could have been like him if he had studied well. Education is a powerful weapon of life! If we don’t study, we will lose in life.
