Hello, my name is Tidar Banang, 14 years old and I am from South Sudan.
South Sudan is the newest country in the world; established in 2012. It is situated in Africa and its neighboring countries are Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and the Central African Republic (CAR). The capital of South Sudan is Juba and the longest river in the world – the river Nile – goes through our country.
Who is your role model? And why?
My role model is Vinicius Junior; a footballer with Real Madrid. This is because he always dribbles with the ball and scores goals to make his team win. People abuse him because of his style of dancing and the color of his skin I guess, but he never stops being real and continues to bring the best out of the abuse he gets. That is why he is such an inspiration to me.
One dream you wish come true. State why.
My dream is to become a president. This is because my country has been at war since its independence and many lives were lost. Back in 2010 – 2013 we were living happily in Malakal (in the North-East of our country; see the map). I used to go to school with my brother and my elder brother was having a very big shop. During the war we lost our house and our shop. I also lost my good friends. When my dream comes true, I will protect peoples’ lives and will stop the war amongst ourself as a country so that we have good schools.
