Why Connect ?
More and more people and indeed nations are building walls, literally and symbolically, as a means to protect their identity, their way of life, jobs, culture, etc. This self-isolation creates a bubble keeping ‘the other’, ‘the foreigner’ at a distance. Especially in times of economic crises, people seem to become more insular.
We feel it is good to start young with the open exchange of information and experiences to avoid limited/limiting views. As a child, we start to learn about the external world, about differences in people and we start building images of how we perceive people and how we relate to them.
Unfortunately, these images can be based on prejudices, both actively imparted and passively imbibed and on partial information the child receives. The first bricks of a wall are thus laid.
It is in this context that Hope Unlimited decided to start a new magazine for children: CONNECT.
CONNECT reaches out to children in the age group of 8 – 15 years. Children from India and from all across the world.
A magazine for children that aims for
Unity
To promote the concept of unity in diversity among children; the citizens of tomorrow.
They are one
To provide a platform for children from different backgrounds, religions, cultures to discover that despite the many differences, they are also the same in the end, sharing similar interests, likes and dislikes.
Collaborative ideas
To promote discussion and debates that allow children to express their ideas with respect for differences.
Fulfill potential
To contribute to the actual realisation of children’s dreams.
